Nomi is the result of more than 40 years of work with children’s chairs by the Norwegian furniture designer Peter Opsvik. Opsvik is best known for the Tripp Trapp highchair he designed back in 1972 inspired by the needs of his own child. Opsvik designs seating solutions that inspire the user to active sitting. He believes that movement and variation of posture is a prerequisite for comfortable sitting. Since 1972 Peter Opsvik has been working on the next generation of highchair, and 41 years later he launched the Nomi Concept dedicated to his next generation – his granddaughter Iris. He wanted a chair that could be used from childhood into the teenage years, a chair that truly offered excellent sitting, comfort and support. The result was the Nomi, the all-in-one Highchair – from newborn to teenager.
The Nomi Highchair is the winner of many awards, including the Red Dot “Best of the Best” Award – the Oscar of the design industry. Nomi also won the 2018 ABC Kids Expo “Product of Distinction” Award, the “Best in Show” Award from the 2018 Chicago Baby Show and several other “Best in Show” awards.
The Nomi is easily adjusted as a child grows – seamlessly and without tools. The depth of the seat and footrest automatically align when you adjust the height of the highchair, so a child is always seated in an ergonomically correct position. The Nomi Baby is available separately and adjusts from horizontal to more upright, as the baby grows. Able to hold up to 330 lbs, the Nomi Chair can be used through to the teenage years a beyond.
